Turning Back Time

By Laura

Note: my story begins as Angel has lost his soul. It is a few days after Buffy's 17th birthday.

-----

Buffy lay on her bed. Memories were passing her mind. If only I could turn back time, she thought. The next moment she was outside. Angel came walking towards her.

"Hey Buffy".

Buffy spun around, holding up a stake.

"Hey relax, it's just me. Did I scare you?"

Buffy nodded, unsure what to think of Angel's behaviour. He came near her and gave her a hug. Buffy froze in his arms.

"Nervous for tomorrow?", he asked.

"What's tomorrow?"

"Your birthday".

My birthday, she thought confused. What happened, did I really turn back time?

***
Buffy and Angel walked down the cemetery. It was a quiet evening. Buffy was not so confused anymore now she realized what had happened. She didn't know how, but her wish had come true. Now she had the change to save Angel's soul.

After having patrolled for an hour they went to her home, because there were no vampires around she had to slay. When they got to her home, they said goodbye and kissed.
Buffy hadn't kissed him for months, not after he had lost his soul, and she didn't want to let him go. But still she did, because she knew everything would be ok now. This time, everything would be different.

***
That night Buffy had a dream. In it Drussila killed Angel and she couldn't stop it.
When she woke up, she knew how to save Angel's soul. She had to kill Drusilla and Spike.
She went to Angel's apartment, because alone she didn't stand a change against them.
She had to come up with a plan or everything would go wrong. If that happened, she'd lose him forever.

By the time she had reached Angel's apartment the sun had came up. That meant Spike and Dru couldn't leave their place and that they were there for sure. There was no escape possible.
This would be the ultimate fight.
She knocked on Angel's door. When he opened it he looked suprised at her.

"Buffy, is something wrong?"

"I know where Drusilla and Spike are".
PART 2: The Fight.

Angel heard her story in amazement. When she had told him everything she knew, he agreed with her they needed to stop Drusilla and Spike from rebuilding the Judge. They knew they had little time left, so they had to do it now.
Angel grabbed his jacket and they left. They went through the sewer, because it was already daytime and Angel would burn in the sunlight.
Buffy was sure they hadn't rebuilt the judge yet, because Drusilla was still missing some parts. At least, if things hadn't changed from the way she remembered them. She just assumed they hadn't. So the most important thing they had to do was keeping the judge in pieces and separate the parts from each other. They had to be buried all over the world again.
But first they had to get the parts.

By the time they had reached the warehouse Spike and Dru lived in, they had prepared their plan. Buffy would start a fire to distract the guards and Angel would go in to fight Drusilla and Spike. That shouldn't be such a big problem, considering Spike was still in a wheelchair. Angel would only have to fight Drusilla and Buffy would come later to help him.
They were ready for it.

***

Buffy watched the vampire guards from a distance. There were eight of them. She started the fire and it didn't take long before the vampire guards came to see hat was going on.
Buffy threw the first one in the fire and she staked the second one.
The alley she was in was very narrow, so the vampires couldn't fight her all at the same time.
Therefore Buffy could defeat them.

In the mean time Angel had reached Spike and Drussila. They were very surprised to see him, but before they could react Angel started to fight.
He hit Drusilla so hard she fel to the wall on the other end of the room.

"Hé", said Spike. "What the hell you think you are doing?"

"I'm making sure the Judge won't come back to life", Angel said. He had put his gameface on.

"You can't stop us", said Drusilla. "And you won't leave this place alive."

"I think he will. And besides, he's already dead."

Buffy came out of the shadow.

"How did you pass the guards?" Spike asked angrily.

"I dusted them".

"All ten of them?"

Buffy looked up. "There were ten?"

***
Suddenly the two missing vampires came out of the shadow and appeared behind Buffy.

'Look out!', Angel warned her.

She turned around and staked the first vampire, then she faced the other one.

In the mean time Angel and Dru had started fighting again. Dru scratched Angel's face open and Angel put his gameface on. Spike looked worried at the fights. He had the feeling this would turn out wrong for Drusilla and him. Without anyone noticing he left through the sewer. At least that was wat he tried to do. Instead, he fell and couldn't move anymore. He was trapped.
Buffy had finally defeated the vampire she was fighting with and looked at Angel.
When she did, he was just staking Drusilla.
They looked at each other.

'Well, that went smooth', Buffy said.

'Yeah', nodded Angel in agreement.

They left through the sewer and staked Spike wen they passed him.

That night, Buffy and Angel were kissing in front of her house. They cleaned up the pieces from the judge and Giles was very happy that they had saved the world from a monster once again.
Buffy knew she could never make love to Angel. But she also knew she had saved his soul, and right now that was all that mattered. She had had the best birthday ever.
